The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) have awarded WiMAX wireless high speed internet licenses to four companies. Awarded 2.3 GHz WiMAX licensees are Redtone International Bhd, Packet One Networks (P1) Sdn Bhd, Asiaspace Sdn Bhd and YTL e-Solutions.
YTL E-Solutions Bhd; Packet One Networks Sdn Bhd, a Green Packet subsidiary and Asiaspace Dotcom, owned by Abdul Ghani Abdullah each received separate blocks of 30 MHz in that 100 MHz band to operate services in Peninsular Malaysia, while Redtone–CNX Broadband owned by Redtone International got 25 MHz to provide coverage in Sabah and Sarawak. The spectrum given to the WiMAX operators are 2.30-2.33 GHz (Asiaspace), 2.33-2.36 GHz (Y-MAX), 2.36-2.39 GHz (Packet One) and 2.375-2.4 GHz (Redtone).
